Productions PRESS RELEASE 28.2.2005 Kekäläinen & Company: REALITY and SACRE II Choreographer Sanna Kekäläinen presents two her new works. Both pieces are presented by her female ensemble that was founded in 2004. Reality REALITY crabs the concept of TRUTH: How is reality constructed? How people take part of it and share it? What is the reality of the human body like? How does that sense of reality create itself? What kind of different realities are we living in? REALITY continues themes that Sanna Kekäläinen presented in her work TEO. TEO investigated globalization and individuals in the systems of society through the concept of believing. Reality brings these themes from the common to the private center of existence of a human being. The work reflects our physical and emotional existing finding deep, intimate moments and identifieing common breathing. "How can I explain this to you? I`m going to try. It`s that I`m perceiving a slanted reality. One seen through an oblique slice. Only now have I intuited the obliqueness of life. Before I saw only through straight and parallel slices. I didn`t notice the artful, slanted trace. Now I divine that life is something else. That living is not just unrolling crude sentiments - it`s something more magical and more graceful, something that for all that does not lose its fine animal vigor. I`ve put my heavy paw on that unexpectedly slanted life, thus snuffing out the oblique and the fortuitous that is at the same time the subtly fateful. I´ve understood the fatality of chance and in this there`s no contradiction." Clarice Lispector: Água viva (Translation: Elizabeth Lowe and Earl Fitz) Sacre II is a new version of a solo Sanna Kekäläinen created to herself in 2001. SACRE II opens up from the conceptual point of view; the victim is a scapegoat that community reflects projects both the evil and the desired it needs to free itself of. The work is an interpretation of Vaslav Nižinski`s and Igor Stravinski`s creation The Rite of Spring.
