Tête-à-tête at XS-festival in Turku

Tête-à-tête by Sanna Kekäläinen and Janne Saarakkala was performed at the opening day program of XS-Festival in Turku on 2.12.2020, for a very limited audience due to the Corona situation.  Critic Suvi Satama described the experience in the local newspaper: “Tête-à-tête is a magnificiently immersive listening experience to the spectator. The discussion was rhythmically rich in nuances, which was art in itself. ”

Tête-à-tête is an event where choreographer-dancer Sanna Kekäläinen and director Janne Saarakkala get to know each other in front of the audience with confidential and intimate discussion as their means. Their aim is to practice the missing skills and to follow the spontaneous flow of the dialogue between their consciousnesses. The topics to discuss are proximity and love, and the things that the artists have in their minds at the moment and also where the discussion leads them. Every discussion is a unique event that contemplates on the personal and private, on covering and hiding, and on opening and revealing in a non-representational way.

Tête-à-tête is a touring version of the performance event Kaksi käsitteellistä versiota henkilökohtaisuudesta, premiered at Amos Rex in 2019 Amos Rex, Helsinki. In October 2020 the version called  Keskustelu – Conversation was performed in K&C Space.
