A FRIEND FROM ETHIOPIA 2
Premiere at Finnish National Theatre,
Taivassali 8.5.2025
“One of the most important dance works of the autumn, without a doubt.”
-A lot of noise from the Theatre (review of the Tampere performances in autumn 2024)
A Friend from Ethiopia 2 is completely new, highly topical and touching music theatre. The work deals in a unique and fresh way with the reality we all share, juxtaposing refugees and undocumented migrants with climate crisis and mass extinction.
“Every human being comes from Ethiopia” is the insightful refrain that sums up the core idea of the work.
A Friend from Ethiopia, which premiered in Tampere in autumn 2024, will now continue when Sanna Kekäläinen‘s new direction and choreography will premiere at the Finnish National Theatre in Taivassali on 8 May 2025.
A Friend From Ethiopia 2 combines several art forms and genres: contemporary dance, performance art, music and literature. The work brings together Sanna Kekäläinen’s conceptual, neo-materialist approach, Jussi Tuurna‘s musical theatre and Kari Hukkila‘s post-dramatic writing.
Premiere in Taivassali on 8.5.2025. Performances at 19.00.
Other performances 10.5./12.5./14.5./16.5./17.5.
