PARVI-FLOCK
“The work focuses on beings in the Anthropocene era – flocks of beings, creatures, beasts, with its humans, mammals, birds, insects.
In this teeming of life, the work focuses on two qualities: swarming and singing in flocks.
Why flocking, what is being sung? The fragments of these stories create the sediment, the stratum, the soil, the accumulation of places of our time.”

Kekäläinen & Company’s Parvi-Flock is a touching work about beings and being in the era of the anthropocene. It places all living creatures as equals in the biosphere and asks if human beings can accept the fact that we are just a little part of the ecosystem. Or are human beings becoming the destroyers of the earth and all the flocks?
The work observes the similarities of life and functions of all living beings and focuses on this tireless eort to enable life and to search for nourishment. It puts the experience of being a part of community in the core of existence as well as the meaning of voice as a transmitter of information and emotional messages.
The work will have its premiere at the Finnish National Museum, which, as a place of prehistory and history, serves as an excellent metaphor for the work. The work consists of two parts. The title of the part is Voices, and the second part Flock.
